B C

Merry Christmas to one and all. It has been a good visit home so far.

Flights were good, little scarry between connection in Cincinati- but good ol’ delta, you can always count on them being late. From the minute I got home life has not really slowed down until today. Church Christmas program, Christmas shopping, Guitar hero party, church, spending time with my grandparents, family Christmas, Opa and Aunt Jo’s birthday, and now its Christmas day.

Church was nice this morning. Although I’d have to say that I find it hard to follow Rev. Bezuyen some times. He talks sometimes as if he was characters from the Bible. He kept saying “We’re going to Bethlehem”. I think I may have not been listening the whole time because I wasn’t understanding why he said it so much.

Tomorrow is DeHaan Christmas, Thursday is Aunt Jo’s 50th birthday party which is going to be fun if I get my MC-ing butt in gear. Friday is Christmas with Bakker side and then Saturday my cousin is renuing her vows in front of her family with her husband who is from India and his parents don’t know that he moved to Canada and Sarah could be killed if they found out. If you want the whole story, just ask. But I really can’t wait until this week is over. I love the festivities, but there are way too many dinners and not enough dancing afterwards so I feel like garbage.

I got a camera for Christmas without asking so I’m going to share some pictures If I can figure them out.

I can so this is my Opa and Oma. We gave my Opa a turntable thing so he can put his vinyl’s/records on his computer. Little does he know, he is getting an I-pod and laptop for when he when he goes on his 3 month travel to Texas and Arizona and everything inbetween. ( I think I have them convinced to come visit me :)

And now, this is my aunt Jo. She is the best aunt you could possibly ask for. She is celebrating her 50th birthday this week and I love her!

Since it all began

Since I wrote my first post in 7 months the other day, I have been wanting to write a lot of things down here. In fact, it kept me up for a bit last night. But alas, studying for 4 exams in 24 hours takes presedence. More on Thursday afternoon…when I get to go home the next day!!

20 minutes…and GO!

I’m surprised they haven’t shut this blog down. It has been 7 months since my last post. It has been one crazy summer of work, seeing the Grand Canyon, hanging out at the hospital, becoming closer with friends and drifting with others. But here I sit, nearly 5/8ths of the way done a ‘normal’ university year. But wait…I’m at College now. I say ‘normal’ because who knows how many semesters are to go.

This past sememster has got to have been the best of my whole college life yet. No cleaning up after others, no being the alcohol police, no loud music at 3 am, no crappy professors, no un-challenging courses, no corruption, no family obligations.

Dordt has been an excellent switch. I am so thankful for transferring! The fact that I get to see Dee as often as I want is just icing on the cake. Or should I say ‘frosting’. A few word differences have been found down here.

Some things about the midwest really bother me. Like how people are obsessed with Pizza Ranch, most people don’t recycle. In fact I had a friend who gets mad when I ask her to put paper in the recycle bins around here. Danielle asked her once if she thought that homeless people used the things that we recycle. I think she actually thought that. :)

A lot of good is around here though. I really do love it. Not loving it in the sense that I don’t ever want to leave…because believe me, I do! but it just feels nice down here…or across here I guess.

IT’s a beautiful day…

U2 or Mr. Rogers??? you decide.

It is a beautiful day outside. The sun is shining and I have sufficiantly burnt for the weekend. From my window I can hear the guys playing hockey and others playing tennis. I’m sad…and I don’t like it. I keep having these moments of doubt. I’ll never spend the last saturday of school with these people. I’ll never play volleyball for two hours with my friends. I’m so going to miss these people!

God is good though. It amazes me everytime that the seasons always change, and God always is faithful. It is amazing to have a Father who takes care of so much and is the only constant in the world.

I am rather excited to be done this school year. Next week at this time (plus two days) I will be working on the nursery seeing that change from bare to fruitful and although it is tiresome and tedious work most of the time, the perspective we take on it will either help us or hinder us to get through those few months.

I choose to see the beautiful day!

Always comes back to the music

I have three new songs that are at the top of my charts for this past Easter weekend. They have nothing to do with Easter as you would imagine, but more have to do with my incessant ADD while writting a paper and working on a website.

Here they are: You’ll have to go to the site considering that wordpress is a dumb blogging site and only alows for documents to be posted.

1. Silversun pickups: lazy eye http://www.myspace.com/silversunpickups

2. Tom Petty: I won’t back down

No explanation here, because I really have no reason why I like it.

and the best of the three….

3. Peter, Bjorn and John: Young Folks http://www.myspace.com/peterbjornandjohn

Kindof reminisant of the Scooby doo theme song, the rest of their music is really good too…I love Scandanavian bands.

I also love myspace music. Its pretty cool to check out bands and their music….JDD yoghurt want to make one???

PS: This post is basically for JDD yoghurt

Short thought for today.

When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope

that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could

say, “I used everything you gave me”.

A great email from my aunt about the benifits of drugs.

Believe me, Joey.  You won’t feel a thing.  They will have you so druggggggged.  I can relate.  The first time I had major surgery, I too was so scared.  Your mom kept trying to calm me down.  Her line was that they give you drugs for the pain.  I remember them giving me laughing gas which put me on the biggest trip ever.   I remember thinking, “Mmmm, I can see where people enjoy ‘doing’ drugs.  I also remember saying to the doctors and nurses that I wished I had a tank of that stuff in my office.

Gotta love my aunt Jo :)

But because in 5 days i’m getting my wisdom teeth out.ahh, i’m not looking forward to it. just look it up on google images. it’s not pretty.
